IT IS WITH PROFOUND SADNESS AND HEAVY HEARTS THAT WE ANNOUNCE THE PASSING OF OUR BELOVED PASTOR,
REV. DR. MARSHALL TRUEHILL JR.

He was a gift from God who led by example and taught God's truth with clarity, energy and enthusiasm.  His Bible knowledge combined with his experience in the practical application of Biblical principles proved to be a powerful and effective means to reach the lost.  His love for people led him to become a nationally renowned expert on urban ministry and evangelism.

Pastor Truehill was also an educator who could explain the Word to anyone at any age, and could mingle and converse with everyone from College Professors and dignitaries to small children.  He loved people and this love shined from him as he gave his life in service to them and to God.

Pastor Truehill served not only our congregation but his community as an advocate for social justice and racial reconciliation.  He fought for the rights of the poor and disempowered, especially in the Housing Developments of New Orleans, where he grew up.  He encouraged honest dialog on race issues to bring about healing and unity.

We were immensely proud to have him as our spiritual leader, and to be able to know him so personally for so long.

We as a church family mourn his passing, and ask for your prayers as we experience this difficult and challenging transition.

His legacy will live on in his faithful congregants as they continue to strive for excellence, in wholistic ministry that feeds both the human and spiritual man.

Pastor Truehill, we love you and will miss you greatly yet we will not mourn as those who have no hope for we know you are with the Father who you served faithfully and loved dearly, and that one day we will see you again.

Our prayers are with his beloved wife, First Lady Miranda Truehill, his children, and his whole family.

The official obituary and a photo tribute will be available soon.
